Around 4.5 million Australians experience a cold at least once a year, there’s no wonder it’s called ‘common’.
Looking after your immune system is your best defence against catching an infection and from falling into a relapse if you do catch a cold.
So what can you do to boost your immunity?
Apart from the obvious – regularly washing your hands, avoiding crowded places, you can also:
- drink plenty of water
- engage in moderate exercise 4 x a week – assists with immunity, the elimination of waste through the lymphatic and circulatory system
- ensure your diet is high in fresh vegetable and fruit – this will provide you with the essential vitamins, minerals and antioxidants for a healthy immune system
- get plenty of quality sleep
- have lots of garlic and onion for their antimicrobial activity
